You want to have success, right? Everyone does. Goal setting tips will help you achieve the success you want. People realize success in different ways and want different things.
Depending on their situation, their definition of success changes. Some people want money, nice homes, luxury cars, while other people want health, more friends and to quit smoking.
You have a definition for success that you see, feel and hope will happen for you. The first step to success is to know what your is.
There’s many factors that go into defining your vision of success, including:
- How you were raised – What you learn in childhood has a big influence on your personal views of success.
- What you believe – These are deep rooted inside your mind that affects the way you feel about things and view the world around you.
- Personality traits – How you act outwardly and inwardly, whether it’s genetically inherited, or influenced by your astrological sign, astrology chart or any other factors, your personality will influence certain views and actions you take.
- Attitude – How you internalize things with your own self-talk will affect how you feel about change and setting goals.
- Your social group – The people you hang around, even your family can affect and influence you.
- Society – Depending on your views about government, leadership and the way things are going in the town, city, state or country you live in will have influence on you.
- Experiences – Depending on your experiences in life, whether large or small, these have a way of conditioning you to perceiving things in a certain way, healthily or unhealthily.
All of these factors in your life contribute to your definition of success.
If you want to feel confident, you have to make certain decisions regarding your goals to start working towards them and achieving them.
If you’re like most people, you want to set goals that you can achieve. There’s so many people who want to achieve goals they set, but they aren’t sure how to do it. They don’t realize that sometimes setbacks can happen, but it’s when you prepare for those setbacks and know what to do when they happen that you put your goals in forward motion again.

1.Take some paper for each of the areas above and brainstorm each. Write all of the things you want to achieve around each given area.
No worries about the size of the goal right now. Think big if you want to, just write what comes to you.
2. Once you’ve completed this exercise, you’ll have everything listed that you’d like to achieve in each area of your life.
3.Now, next to each goal, write down the time it’s going to take to achieve each. If you believe it’ll take 2 weeks for one particular goal, write that down beside it. If it’s going to take a year, write that down. Be realistic about the amount of time needed.
Here’s some suggested timelines for completing your goals:
- Less than 1 year
- 1 – 3 years
- 3 years plus
You should now have your 6 key life areas with time limits for each goal.
4. Put in order your shorter term goals (1 year or less). Then select 2 of them that you feel you should accomplish first.
You should now have 12 goals that you want to achieve in the next year.
When you’re setting your goals, figure out “why” you want to accomplish it. This is your motivation for meeting and achieving your goals. Write down each of the reasons that you want to accomplish your goals so that you’ll know the exact reason each time you look at the goal.
If you don’t know the reason, you will lose motivation to accomplish the goal.
Having goals that are “what you should do” will not drag you out of bed everyday and keep you up until the wee hours of the morning, if you’re really driven to accomplishing them. Too many “shoulds” can act as a way to deter you from accomplishing your goals.. So, you’ve got to turn your “I should do this” to “I am doing this.”
Answer the following questions for each of your goals.
- What pleasure will it give you?
- What will you be able to do with it?
- What will you miss if you don’t complete it?
- Why is it so important to you?
- Why is it a MUST rather than a SHOULD?
- Brainstorm your desires around each goal
- Put timelines for accomplishing these goals next to each
- Choose your shorter term goals to complete first
- Select 2 goals from the key life areas
- Write down your reason why you need to achieve the goals
